Application Development

New application development and program modifications across the Logix platform in ladder diagram, function block, structured text, and sequential function chart. Code written to be readable, structured, and maintainable. Not just functional at commissioning.

Troubleshooting & Diagnostics

Online & on-site fault diagnosis for Allen-Bradley systems in production. We perform logic & fault tracing, diagnose the problem end to end and bring you solutions. Remote access support where network infrastructure permits, on-site response where it doesn’t.

FactoryTalk & Panelview

FactoryTalk View SE and ME HMI development. Screen layout, tag database configuration, alarm management, trend displays, and recipe handling. PanelView Plus configuration for standalone machine HMI and operator station applications.

Installation & Commissioning

New control panel builds, chassis installation, I/O module configuration, EtherNet/IP network setup, and full site commissioning. I/O loop checks through functional acceptance testing and QA/QC with production operations. On-site point to point confirmation of all functionality.

Allen Bradley in Calgary

The Top Platform in Alberta Industry.

Allen-Bradley is the #1 PLC & HMI controls platform in Western Canada. And has been for decades.

That longevity means Alberta facilities are running everything from current ControlLogix and CompactLogix systems to SLC 500 and PLC-5 hardware that predates most of the engineers now responsible for keeping it operational.

Celtex handles both ends of that timeline. Modern Logix programming done with the structure and documentation that holds up long after commissioning day. Legacy platform support done with the component level depth to find faults and recover programs when manuals are missing and OEM support is not an option.

?

SCADA & Data Integration

FactoryTalk View SE SCADA development, historian tag configuration, and EtherNet/IP integration with third-party SCADA platforms via OPC DA/UA for multi-vendor plant environments.

Machine Control

Discrete machine sequencing, servo axis integration via Kinetix, conveyor and indexing logic, and safety task programming for OEM and custom machine applications.

Process Control

PID loop configuration, analog I/O scaling, valve and pump sequencing, and alarm management for continuous process applications  such as oil and gas, water treatment, and chemical processing.

q

Safety Systems

GuardLogix and Compact GuardLogix safety task development — E-stop, light curtain, and door interlock integration with documented safety function verification to SIL 2 / PLd requirements.

Servo & VFD Integration

PowerFlex VFD and Kinetix servo integration over EtherNet/IP, Modbus & Profibus. Parameter configuration, Add-On Instruction development, and drive fault handling within the Logix program architecture.

Legacy System Support

We have direct experience with and offer support for the long discontinued SLC500, Micrologix & PLC-5 systems. If your aging infrastructure needs a reboot or migration to newer hardware you can bet we’ve done it before.

SLC 500 and PLC-5 — The Platforms Allen Bradley Left Behind.

Allen Bradley has long discontinued the SLC 500 and PLC-5 product lines, and both are now well into end of life status. Spare processor and I/O cards are increasingly scarce, firmware updates are no longer available, and OEM support has ended.

For the Alberta facilities still running these platforms, many of them in continuous process or 24/7 production environments this creates a real operational risk that doesn’t resolve itself.

Celtex works on both sides of that problem. We extend the productive life of hardware still in service, and help to plan & execute migrations that happen on your timeline before an unplanned failure forces the issue.

Life Extension Support

Program backups, version control, fault diagnosis, I/O card cross referencing & engineering workarounds for platforms where OEM support is no longer available.

Migration Planning

Structured migration scope development. I/O auditing, instruction set translation and HMI cutover planning. Risk assessments to support your capital budget submission.

Functional safety validation

Managed cutover from legacy to Logix platforms. Parallel run strategies, I/O remapping, operator training, and post cutover support to ensure production.

Maximize Your Potential

Celtex is based in Calgary and serves clients across Alberta and Western Canada. All electrical work is performed under Canadian Electrical Code jurisdiction with direct experience supporting Allen Bradley installations across the province’s oil and gas, food processing, and manufacturing sectors.

How We Approach an Allen Bradley Project

Program & System Audit

For existing systems we begin by understanding what’s there. Reviewing existing programs, I/O configurations, network topology, and any available documentation before recommending changes or additions. Modifying a live system without full understanding is a common cause of production upsets.

Structured Program Development

New programs are developed against a defined I/O list and functional specification. We use consistent naming conventions, structured Add-On Instructions for repeating function blocks, and inline comments that explain intent and function for future maintenance. Code that your maintenance team can decipher is code written properly.

Network & I/O Commissioning

EtherNet/IP device configuration. I/O module setup and loop by loop QA verification before any controlled equipment is energised. Sequence matters. Discovering a wiring error after the drives are enabled is more costly than finding it during proper QA/QC.

Functional Testing & Acceptance

Systematic functional testing against your specifications with your operations team present for the production acceptance run. Faults found during testing are resolved before handover, not left on a punch list.

Documentation & Handover

Program backups in current and previous revision are provided. As-built drawings & I/O lists. A network topology diagram and a handover package structured for your maintenance team. Not just a document dump that requires our return to decipher.
